The Swiss will once again sit in the number 18 car

Giorgio Maggi will once again compete for Race Art Technology in the 2023 NASCAR Whelen Euro Series and fight for the EuroNASCAR PRO title. The congenial duo from Switzerland was already one of the best combinations in Europe’s highest NASCAR league in 2022 and with fifth place as well as victory in the Junior Trophy for drivers under 25, the driver from Hergiswil made a mark. In the 2023 season, Maggi will share the No. 18 Ford Mustang with Claudio Cappelli from Italy.

Maggi and Cappelli already know each other from the 2022 NWES season and will use their shared experience to set up the car for the six races on some of Europe’s best race tracks. The 2019 EuroNASCAR 2 season runner-up is looking to take the next step in 2023 and compete for overall victory in EuroNASCAR PRO. To achieve his goals, Maggi has been meticulously preparing for the new season over the winter.

“I want to win the NASCAR Whelen Euro Series championship in 2023,” said Maggi, who previously gained experience in GT3, Formula 4 and prototype cars. “I really like EuroNASCAR because of a combination of factors. For one, the cars are old-school, which is a guarantee for close and exciting racing. The V8 monsters are also not as vulnerable as other modern race cars. The greatest invention of mankind is the H-shift. Furthermore, fans experience a spectacular festival and get up close to the cars, teams and drivers. The atmosphere is incredible.”

The 25-year-old, who himself works in the renewable energy sector, discovered his passion for motorsport when he was a child. Back then, he had to convince his parents to support him on his way to becoming a racing driver. Even today, Maggi receives the greatest support from those around him. With Race Art Technology from Switzerland, the top EuroNASCAR driver has a team behind him that can draw on a lot of experience in the NWES.

The 2023 NASCAR Whelen Euro Series season begins on May 6 and 7 at the Ricardo Tormo Circuit in Valencia, Spain. All qualifying sessions and races will be broadcast live on EuroNASCAR’s YouTube channel, Motorsport.tv and various television channels worldwide. Race Art Technology aims to establish itself as one of the top teams in the official European NASCAR series with this strong team, and Maggi is expected to immediately fight for victory as the spearhead of the racing team.
